How the calculation works
The calculator compares what a campaign costs with the estimated value of the extra organic traffic it supports over the period you choose.
- Traffic value = extra visits per month × value per visit × months
- ROI = (traffic value − cost) ÷ cost
- Cost per link = campaign cost ÷ number of backlinks
Use a conservative visits estimate and a realistic value per visit (for example the keyword’s CPC, or revenue per visit from your analytics). Results are estimates for planning — links are one of many factors that influence traffic.
Frequently asked questions
What value per visit should I use?
Either the average cost-per-click of your target keywords (what that traffic would cost in ads), or your real revenue per organic visit from analytics.
How long until links have an effect?
It varies by site and competition. Many teams evaluate link building over 6–12 months rather than weeks.
