Readability Checker

Flesch Reading Ease, grade level, sentence length and paragraph structure — with the sentences to fix first.

How readability is measured

The checker calculates the Flesch Reading Ease score (0–100, higher is easier) and a Flesch–Kincaid grade level, plus average sentence and paragraph length. It also lists the longest sentences so you know where to start editing.

For most web content, aim for a Reading Ease of 60 or higher and average sentences of 15–20 words.

Frequently asked questions

Does readability affect SEO?

Not directly, but clear writing keeps readers engaged and makes content easier to quote in search and AI answers.

Why does my technical article score low?

Long technical terms add syllables. Keep sentences short and define jargon to compensate.
